Curtis Institute announces 2022-23 season
The Curtis Institute has announced its 2022-23 season.
For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on vocal performance.
The season kicks off with a concert featuring the Curtis Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin as it features the rising stars of the Curtis Opera on a musical tour of France. The showcase will feature many favorite operas by Massenet, Debussy and Gounod, among others.
Performance date: November 6, 2022
The Curtis Opera Theater will present Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw” under the direction of Chas Rader-Shieber and under the direction of Louis Lohraseb.
Performance date: Nov. 18 & 20, 2022
The Curtis Opera Theater will also present “The Elixir of Love” with Sarah Ina Meyers in the director’s chair and Christian Capocaccia on the podium.
Performance date: March 10 & 12, 2023
There will be a performance of two works by Aaron Jay Kernis, including “Earth” for solo tenor and chamber ensemble. The other piece on the program will be “Goblin Market” for narrator and sinfonietta.
Performance date: March 25, 2023
Two song cycles by faculty member Richard Danielpour will be presented.
Performance date: April 19, 2023
The Curtis Opera Theater’s final showcase will be “Ariodante.” Omer Ben Seadia directs and David Stern directs.
Performance date: May 4 – 7, 2023
There will also be several student, graduate and faculty recitals throughout the year.
