A French medical company donated diagnostic equipment to the Odessa Filatov Institute of Ophthalmology

French Quantel medicalwith the help of the Embassy of Ukraine in France, donated to the Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy “Filatov” in Odessa, as humanitarian aid, a new probe (sensor ) for the Aviso device for ultrasonic biomicroscopy of the anterior eye.

The famous Odessa clinic reported that up to 5,000 patients need to be examined annually on the Aviso device, in particular, to detect and monitor the condition of intraocular tumors and neoplasms of the conjunctiva of the eye.

Additionally, the need for probe-assisted examination increased during the war for patients with trauma, foreign bodies in the anterior part of the eye, chemical and thermal burns.

In the spring of this year, the institute urgently needed a new sensor, because the existing one had actually failed. The sensor of each device is manufactured individually.

During the war, the clinic was unable to update the equipment on its own, including due to funding constraints, the lack of a sensor in Ukraine, disruptions in supply chains and delivery difficulties.

The administration, doctors and patients of the clinic of the Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy named after Filatov wholeheartedly express their gratitude to the General Manager of Quantel Medical, Mr. Jean-Marc GENDRE / Jean-Marc GENDRE and company employees for the care provided, humanitarian aid and the Ukrainian Embassy in France for their precious help and support.
